Synergy Services’ 31st Annual Kindest Kansas Citian Awards
I recently learned about Synergy Services’ Kindest Kansas Citian Awards when my daughter was asked to write an essay for her English class about who she thought was the kindest person in Kansas City. She immediately thought of one of the first people we met when we moved here and one of her soccer coaches–Goran Karadjov (G). She easily wrote about all the things that make him kind and inspiring to so many people. About a month or two after she wrote the essay, we heard that Goran was chosen as one of the top 20 Kindest Kansas Citians. Lily and Goran recorded a reading of her essay at Synergy Services that will be played at the event on May 7. All the top 20 nominees will be introduced at the event.
Synergy Services hosts events and fundraisers throughout the year to help support their mission financially and by raising awareness. One upcoming event is The Kindest Kansas Citian Awards Celebration to help fund their School-Based programs, which provide anti-bullying programming in Kansas City schools. This event honors the contributions made to our community by the kindest people in Kansas City. Students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade were given the opportunity to write and submit an essay nominating who they believe to be the Kindest Kansas Citian. A group of volunteers reads over every single one of over 3000 entries and narrows it down to the top 20. This year’s event will be a virtual event that will be live-streamed on May 7, 2021 at 7:00pm on Facebook & YouTube LIVE! (Hyperlinks included), hosted by keynote honorees-Jake Jacobson and the Geiger Family. The 20 winners of the Kindest Kansas Citian essay contest, along with the students who nominated them will also be highlighted.
What a wonderful thing it is to highlight the good. It is so easy to concentrate on the negative, especially during these trying times. If you would like more information about this event or sponsor information, check out the event website. There is also an online auction that will begin this week.
